Grandma's Swag

I got given this poncho when my grandma died last year. I wasn't too keen on it when my mum arrived with it, but recently an appreciation for it has been growing. I like the velvety texture the way it fits, my arms move freely in it, if you what I mean. RIP to my Gogo!

P.S My shoes arrived last week :), they are actually pretty comfy and easy to walk in.

I don't know what to make of these drawings. They sort of seem offensive, as if there is a subliminal message being directed by them. The face of the African Bantu woman is one of sadness and sorrow, not celebratory at all. The artist seems to be painting (literally) a sad picture of Africa, the two skulls depict a grim face of Africa; a continent that is dying or going through destruction. Well that's my opinion anyway, although this is somewhat true, it's not something that is applicable to all of Africa. The paintings are shocking, especially if you look beneath the surface of them. What I'm trying to figure out is the direct message that the artist was trying to convey. Are these paintings of empathy or a harsh painting of what is regarded as Africa by the west? The painting I find the most interesting is the third one down, of the monkey, is it a mockery of Africans, as in our 'association' with apes, or is it celebrating Africa as the motherland since we are all said to have derived from there. Either way the paintings are interesting in many different ways, I love art that makes you think and question things.

New Hair

I haven't had braids in like close to 3 years and now that I've got them, I've done the "Cassie" but with box braids. My mum thought I was crazy and my dad asked me why I couldn't be normal *ouch*! Anyway a lot of people inspired me to have this, mainly other bloggers. I wanted them longer but the lady said no and honestly she over charged me for the fucking thing, I mean 56 quid though, and it's not even a full head or that thin -_____-. No lie but I've been getting neck pains because of these, but as they say no pain, no gain! Next time I'm gonna have them down to my waist though, for sho.
